Axicons are widely used for different beam shaping setups together with other optical elements or alone. Most popular applications of axicons include transformation of a collimated Gaussian beam into an approximation of non-diffractive Bessel beam in the near field, conversion of a laser beam into a ring shaped beam or generation of thick-wall hollow "pipe" of light.
