Description

Cesium Lithium Borate CsLiB₆O₁₀ (CLBO) is a nonlinear crystal perfect for harmonic generation in the UV range with a transmission cut-off edge reaching 180 nm. Compared with common BBO nonlinear optical material, CLBO crystals feature larger spectral and temperature acceptance, better angle tolerance, and a smaller walk-off angle. CLBO is a good choice for frequency doubling (SHG), and it is suitable for frequency quadrupling (FHG) of high-power Nd:YAG laser systems. CLBO shows no saturation for high-power generation due to the absence of two-photon absorption typically observed in BBO and KDP crystals.

Some of standard applications:

  • Harmonic generation (up to fifth) of Nd-doped lasers
  • Frequency doubling and tripling of Alexandrite, Ti:Sapphire lasers

CLBO is a highly hygroscopic NLO crystal material. Therefore, standard CLBO crystals are supplied sealed in 1 inch (ø25.4 mm) housings with anti-reflection coated UV FS protective windows. Unmounted CLBO crystals are available upon custom request.

To ensure safe use of CLBO crystals it is important to consider:

  • Temperature: the temperature should be kept stable. The recommended temperature range is 20 - 60 °C. We recommend using HP200 oven with HPC thermocontroller.
  • Humidity: high humidity (>30%) can affect the performance of CLBO crystals. It is important to store them in a dry environment.
